Pain Is Inevitable, Suffering Is Optional
by Ed Foreman

Every one of us, at one time or another, has experienced PAIN…be it the loss of a job, bankruptcy, illness, an accident, divorce, the death of a loved one, etc…but we recovered, we regrouped, we got up and moved forward. Not to have done so would have made a painful situation even worse. To continue to hold on to pain, to replay it over and over in our minds, lowers us into extended SUFFERING that eventually diminishes our immune system and fills us with hate and anger and illness of mind, body and spirit.

We will never forget the unbelievable, inhuman tragedy at the hands of unconscionable terrorists that struck our Country, our families, friends, and fellow citizens on September 11, 2001. We were all stunned, shocked and sorrowful. We pray for those who lost their lives or were injured, and for their families and friends.

Let us learn from this horrible event, in order to prevent a reoccurrence. The perpetrators will be found and brought to justice. Our President and our leaders can be depended upon to do that…and they will have our prayers, support and unity. We will now be more vigilant and aware of our freedom and our responsibility to protect and preserve it. We will be more attentive to the people and the world around us. Perhaps we will become more loving of one another and more appreciative of the abundant lives we enjoy.

This is an important time for us to put to practice what we have learned…to recognize that no amount of hurt, anguish, heartache, sorrow, fear or anger will reverse the devastation or bring back to life those who were taken. NOW is the most important time to follow Prescription #1 (The Daily Menu)…to nourish our minds with the wholesome, positive and pure, by reading from encouraging, uplifting books, by listening to mind-enriching messages (on our reading and listening lists), and to believe in ourselves, our future, God and our Country.

Now, it’s time to move ahead…let go…life goes on. Return to class, share it with a friend or loved one. Re-learn how to relax, laugh, love and live…truly LIVE. Celebrate LIFE!

What we think about, we will experience. May you experience kindness, friendship, compassion, forgiveness and love. May you continue to enjoy a life of happiness, prosperity and vibrant health. Our love and best wishes to you and yours!
