Beverly Kaye "Love 'Em or Lose 'Em: Getting Good People to Stay" | |||||||||||

|
Before earning a doctorate at UCLA, Bev did graduate work in organization development at MIT Sloan School of Management, and earned a Master's Degree from George Washington University.
Bev has spent years researching corporate strategies for developing, engaging and retaining knowledge workers. Her book, Love 'Em or Lose 'Em: Getting Good People to Stay, (Berrett-Koehler, 3d Ed. 2005) co-authored with Sharon Jordan-Evans, has sold nearly a half million copies in 20 languages and has reached Wall Street Journal and Amazon best seller status. Learning Journeys (Davies-Black, 2001), edited by Dr. Kaye, is a collection of essays from top management experts. Love It, Don't Leave It: 26 Ways to Get What You Want at Work (Berrett-Koehler, 2003), also a WSJ best seller, is designed to put job satisfaction in the hands of the employee. In the early '80's, Dr. Kaye first published her now classic book, Up is NOT the Only Way (revised, Davies-Black, 1997), which foresaw the effects of leaner and flatter organizations on individual careers. During the last two decades, she has worked with a host of organizations to establish career development systems and coaching interventions. At the same time, she has been a strong proponent of the need for employees to manage their own careers. Dr. Kaye has received the coveted "Legend" designation from the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD), recognizing her contributions and leadership in the field of workplace learning and performance. Over the years, she has received many other honors and awards, including ASTD's National Career Development Award and numerous Best Practice Awards for work with her clients Bechtel, Chevron, Dow Corning, and First USA. Dr. Kaye is frequently interviewed in the media on career issues, and has been extensively quoted in such national media as The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Fast Company, Fortune, Industry Week, Inc., and many others. Workplace surveys currently report that employees feel disenchanted, discouraged, and disengaged. Organizations are concerned, and rightfully so. If employees are not engaged, they withdraw their energy and their commitment, but often stay put. They wait and watch for the economy to shift or opportunities to open. This does no one any good. Organizations lose. Employees lose. Bev's 2003 book, Love It, Don't Leave It: 26 Ways to Get What You Want at Work (Berrett-Koehler) places the responsibility for workplace satisfaction directly on the shoulders of the individual.
